Every student knows that pre-Med is arguably the most popular pre-professional path at the University of Michigan. This research-based, public university is the best breeding ground for science majors and provides the best opportunities for a thriving, successful pre-Med career path. On Thursday, March 15, from 3-6pm, the Career Center hosted a Medical School Information Fair at the Michigan Union.
The Medical School Information Fair is a great way for a potential medical student to connect with a number of allopathic and osteopathic schools in a convenient and stress-free environment. This useful pre-Med resource is a great way to connect with representatives from over 30 MD and DO schools, including, Michigan State University, Oakland University, Ohio University, Washington University, Wayne State, and, of course, University of Michigan Medical School. The fair also helped students investigate some foreign medical schools that they never would’ve considered, including, the University of Medicine & Health Sciences, St. Kitts/International University of Nursing, the American University of Antigua College of Medicine, and many others. There were also resources present to help students explore postbaccalaureate options as well as MD/PhD and other joint degree programs.
It’s expected of first years and sophomores to explore medical schools, build networks for the future and ask as many questions as possible. For juniors and seniors, preparation, MCATting, and recommendations are the main focus. Whatever your year and whatever your goals, the Medical School Information Fair is a great way to network and discover what you truly want out of a pre-Med education.
