Is it finally over for Newt?

Major news networks and sites (and Twitter) were calling Florida for Mitt Romney before 8 PM. The results were not shocking, given recent polls showing Newt Gingrich slipping after his win in South Carolina.

I have said it before, but I’ll say it again. It’s finally over for Gingrich. He is running out of money and steam. Republicans are realizing that empty rhetoric is no match for Obama who is, himself, an expert at that.

Gingrich has had to deal with conservative pundits and publications bashing him on a near-daily basis. He gained some support from the likes of Tea Party favorites Sarah Palin and Herman Cain, but it was not enough. His debate performances were slowly becoming less and less impressive as Romney finally stooped to attacking the other candidates.
